"Sarah and Katie"

This stage adaptation of the novel by Dori White (illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman) tells the story of a class of sixth graders in Portland, Oregon during the Great Depression. Their plans to put on a Thanksgiving play to raise donations for impoverished local families are complicated by the arrival of a glamorous new student from Hollywood and the disappearance of their auditorium teacher's diamond ring.

Cast Requirements: There are 10 speaking parts for children (7 girls, 3 boys) with abundant stage time for all. There are also roles for 5-7 adults (1-2 men and 4-5 women depending on double-casting choices) which could be played by older children if necessary.
