My account of the event
It was raining, my lane of traffic stopped, I pumped my brakes to alert those behind me that the cars ahead had stopped, I pressed hard on the brakes, felt the anti-lock breaks kick in, came to a stop about 3 feet behind a truck and relaxed, thinking I was safe, I had stopped without hitting anything. Suddenly I was hit from behind and pushed into the truck in front of me. That truck pulled over to the side of the road, with my car being dragged along. It stopped, I looked around and thought WOW! I'm OK! I got out of the car and proceeded with the standard after-an-accident activities.

Fortunately the truck in front of me was carrying a heavy load as this helped stop my car.
Fortunately I was wearing my seatbelt (the airbag did not inflate).
Fortuantely it was a Ford Taurus which has a high rating for safety.
Fortunately I was hit from behind not broadside.
Fortunately I was traveling alone.
and Fortunately I was not severly injured!

I was taken to North Memorial Hospital for Xrays and relased into the loving care of my sister Doris that evening. The following day my devoted husband drove to the TC and brought me home to Morris. I received food, flowers, cards, gifts, and well wishes from many dear friends and family. Once again, THANK YOU. All of them contributed to the healing I am doing.

I needed to understand this this from the perspective of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism--if you are interested please read on!

From the Publication "Living Buddhism" April 1999 (page 37)

Purfying Our Six Senses

From one perspective, what we call benefit in Buddhism comes from the positive relationships we create with our environment and with the people and events we encounter in life. To create such relationships, we must perceive things correctly so that we may act wisely. If our perception and grasp of our surroundings is clear, we can exercise wisdom and create postive value, happiness and joy....Nichiren Daishonin states: "Benefit means the result and recompense of purifying the six sense organs.... Benefit is attaining buddhahood in one's present form and the purfication of the six sense organs" (Gosho Zenshu p.762)....

A life-changing event can sure put one's priorities into perspective!.
