Suggested 4-Year Plan for Premedical Students
(see also the recommended course list)
The following is a suggested 4-year schedule for UMM students who plan to
apply to medical school. This schedule is not specific
to any one major: you will also need to look carefully at the UMM General Education requirements and the requirements of your intended major, and work closely with your advisor to plan an appropriate schedule. This schedule is meant as a
starting point for long-term planning: your actual plan may be different depending
on your situation and goals.
Admissions requirements of different medical schools vary! You should periodically
check the website of any school you are interested in to get the most recent
information about their requirements.
Before you attempt
the MCAT you should definitely have completed or have in progress General
and Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Cell Biology, and Genetics.
It is also highly recommended that you take Human Physiology and Molecular
Biology before attempting the MCAT.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are looking at a printout of this page, be sure to check the online page too because requirements and recommendations sometimes change! The date at the top of the page tells when it was last revised.
