Internships can be taken for credit at UMM(under inter-disciplinary studies). This is not necessary, but helps students who need extra credits to lighten up later courseloads and also gives them an internship recorded on their transcripts. Following is a list of such internships which I have supervised. Requirements include a job(paying up to $17/hour!!), a journal of your experience, a paper about what you learned and a brief talk to other students about your experience. Internships are usually 3 months (summer or one quarter) or six months(spring-summer, summer-fall). With the rising cost of tuition, these courses are many times used only if credits are needed for graduation.
