      Stars by James Kaler.  ISBN 0-7167-5033-3
                  This book is out of print.  The bookstore & duplicating services team up to reproduce bound copies for you at a very reasonable price. 
                  Copies may also be available from internet used booksellers.

      Dark Side of the Universe by Iain Nicolson.  ISBN 0-8018-8592-2
                  This book is very new (March 2007) and in print.  The bookstore will obtain copies. 
                  New and used copies are also available from internet booksellers.

       
Recommended Textbooks:
      Some students find it useful to have a copy of a general introductory astronomy textbook to use as a reference.  These generally contain far too much information placed in too little context, but the index is generally very thorough and can be useful, for example, when you’ve read about interpreting the Doppler shift of galaxies but aren’t quite sure what the Doppler shift is.  Many such texts will be available on reserve at the main desk in Briggs library.
