MESSAGES
There will be an optional review session for the final exam Monday, December 17, at 6:00 pm in the lab room (Sci 1650).
The final exam is scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, at 1:30 pm. You can download the review sheet on the lecture page.
The fifth lecture quiz will be at the beginning of class on Wednesday, November 28 . It will cover earthquakes (Chapter 10 and Lab 16).
The second hour exam will be Friday, November 16. There is an optional review session scheduled for Thursday, November 15, at 6:00 pm in the lab room (Sci 1650). The review sheet can be downloaded from the lecture page.
The first hour exam has been rescheduled for Monday, October 8. There is an optional review session scheduled for Thursday, October 4, at 6:00 pm in the lab room (Sci 1650). We will not have class on Friday, October 5.
The first hour exam will be Friday, October 5. I will hand out a review sheet on Monday, October 1, and we will discuss whether or not a review session will be necessary. The exam will cover material from the first class day through Monday's lecture.
The third lecture quiz will be at the beginning of class on Wednesday, September 26 . It will cover material from Chapter 5 (Minerals) and Appendix A (chemistry review).
The second lecture quiz will be at the beginning of class on Wednesday, September 12. It will cover material from Chapters 1 (Earth origins) and 2 (Earth composition) in the text.
The first lecture quiz will be handed out on Friday, August 31. It will be a take-home exercise involving unit conversions, and it will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday, September 5.
The two required textbooks are now available in the UMM Bookstore. You might find used copies of the lecture text (Earth: Portrait of a Planet) online, but make sure you get the 2nd edition. DO NOT purchase a used copy of the lab manual. It is designed with tear-out pages and will likely not be complete.
Fall semester 2007 classes begin on Wednesday, August 29. Labs will not meet during the first weeks of class and will officially begin on Monday, September 10.
