Personal

I am a tenure-track faculty member in the Geology Discipline at the University of Minnesota Morris. I finished my Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin studying rocks in southern Colorado, but you can read more about that on my research page here. I moved to rural western Minnesota with my wife Rebecca and our dog Lucy, and we've spent alot of our free time renovating parts of the old house we bought here in Morris (1900s Victorian, see photos below).

Rebecca and I met in 1997 in Laramie, Wyoming. We were both doing our M.S. degrees in geology, and we've been together ever since. In Austin, Rebecca worked as a Research Scientist Associate doing research in carbonate and clastic stratigraphy at the Bureau of Economic Geology. She has recently resumed that position via a telecommuting arrangement and travels back to Austin regularly for work.

Lucy the dog came from the pound in Laramie, Wyoming, and she's been with us since 1999. She's a pure-bred mutt and came to love the creeks in Austin, but we have yet to find a good spot to swim in Minnesota. [more Lucy photos]
